A few weeks ago as we were preparing to use fertilizer for the rice crop on the Gunardi farm I remembered what we had learned sustainable agriculture and was able to calculate the proper amount of fertilizer we needed using what we learned in Agriculture Math and Agronomy. I was even able to explain to farmer Gunardi the dangers of using too much fertilizer.
Today farmer Gunardi asked me if I could do the same calculations when it came to applying herbicides and pesticides. It was the first time a senior person had asked me for my opinion. It felt really good to have valuable knowledge and be respected and treated almost as a peer and not just as a kid.
